Frequently Asked Questions

Is the content specific to founders in a particular country?
No. The content is designed for an international audience. While written by a UK course creator, it is published in US-standard English purposefully, to define its broad relevance. All the concepts discussed are unaffected by local country differences. If you spot anything that doesn’t apply in your country, let us know.

Has AI been used to create this course?
Great question, and one that should concern anyone nowadays. We are happy to be transparent. The core content of Founderval’s courses derives from a published book, The Complete Founder. This book was researched and written over a period of five years, before AI was widely being used for content creation. In fact, the book barely mentions AI, because it is largely concerned with evergreen fundamentals that do not change over time. However, on creating a digital version in 2026, it was clear the question of AI needed to be addressed — how is the development of entrepreneurial skills affected? So AI was used for to make two enhancements to the content: summarising book content into a shortform video scripts, and expanding on the original exercise library. As always, and as advised throughout the course, this was done with judicious human editing.

What exactly do I get from an annual membership of Founderval?
Membership provides access to all content. There are 14 topic modules, each one dedicated to a particular entrepreneurial skill. These have been packaged into two courses, with different introductions: The Complete Founder (for founders, solopreneurs, and freelancers) and the Certificate in Intrapreneurship (for those developing entrepreneurial skills for the workplace). Each topic module has a library of practical exercises related to the teaching. These have been curated into a suggested ‘workout’ sequence to develop each skill in a progressive way.

What research or evidence is the content based on?
It’s important to know that Founderval is not one person’s advice or story, like some business books and courses. It’s approach is similar to James Clear’s Atomic Habits: researching academic studies, published works and leading theory, then distilling it into key insights and plain English. The subject range is so broad – from motivation theory to financial literacy – the work must be done like this to be credible and useful. The framework that informs the entrepreneurial skills covered is EntreComp, a respected and deep research project conducted by the European Union.

Why are there 15 core skills described but only 14 modules?
The fifteenth skill defined by EntreComp is ‘Learning Through Experience’. This is why Founderval is heavily practical in emphasis throughout, and why over 300 exercises are provided. The downloadable version of The Complete Founder, included with membership, includes a reflection journal to record learning through experience.
